Dear Classmate:

We have lost several classmates from 1980- 2024.  It is time for us to reach out to each other, show love, support one another and keep in contact. Life is too short.

Jeannette Jones (Inman)

The Mighty Class of 1980 has risen to the occasion to help our fellow man....as noted in our class song.  We will be donating this year to the Dillard Goldsboro Alumni and Friends, Inc scholarship fund.  We are so grateful to all that have donated so far.  Let's continue to support one another and our community.  Thank you!

Dear Classmates:
Thanks to Linwood, Thomas and Rodney for cooking at the GHS Tailgate. Thanks to everyone who donated items, made a donation, served, cleaned up and participated at the event. The fellowship was awesome. It was a success for the children to eat a meal. Thanks for giving back to our alma mater.
Our new banner looked fantastic!

Dear Classmates:

I want to thank Jeannette Jones personally. Jeannette works behind the scenes and does an excellent job. Her diligence pays off for our benefit. I appreicate everything you do for the GHS Class of 1980. Your reward will be pricelss.

Also, We thank Rodney Williams for entering the GHS Master Grill at the tailgate last night.  Rodney won 2nd place in the event. Even though he did not win, Rodney is a winner to us. He fed many children who were hungry last night. Congratulations!

Dear Classmates:
The Committee like to thank everyone who donated and contributed items for the tailgate. It was a great success. We feed many children and adults. We laughed and talked with classmates, family and friends.

Thanks to classmates who assisted in anyway, especially our cooks, donors and servers. We appreciate everything you do for our class.

May God continue to bless us and you continue to support us.

Mother Jones was a Big supporter of the GHS Class of 1980. She allowed us to have meetings at her house and fed us with refreshments. She attended our class functions.

She was a delightful, strong, energetic and graceful lady. She always had a smile on her face. Mother Jones depended on the Lord for her strength.

Even though, she was 103 years old, she had more energy than us. I asked my mother, Marian and Mrs. Jones, “How do you stay so young and energetic?” Both said, “The Lord and be active, because I don’t feel old.” They had a smile on their face.

I loved visiting and speaking with her at the house. She was like a mother to me and many others.

Let the WORKS our Honorary Mother of Goldsboro High School Class of 1980 have done speak for her. Mother Jones will be missed, and will not be forgotten.

As our Class motto says, "We are leaders of tomorrow, prepare ourselves today." Mother Jones prepared herself to be with the Lord."

Our Class song says, "We are moving on to greater Heights we’re going.” Mother Jones has gone to greater Heights and has rested in the arms of the Lord.

My condolences and prayers are with the family and GHS Class of 80.

Esi and I kept in contact with each other over the years. When she visited the Joneses, we visited one another. She often spoke to the Wayne County Public Students about Ghana.
Esi celebrated our 60th Birthday/Memorial Cookout with us in 2022 and had planned to come to our 45th Class reunion in 2025.

We had an opportunity to meet her husband and daughter, who graduated from a university in Wisconsin.

It was great seeing and visiting her. I will miss her Big contagious Smile. Esi will be missed but not forgotten.

Our Blue, Gold and White days are gone but we have the memories that linger on.
